Tooth loss
Types of Periodontal Surgery:
There are two types of periodontal surgery treatments: surgical and non-surgical treatments.
Surgical periodontal treatments:
Soft tissue grafts: At times, periodontitis causes the loss of gum tissue which results in the gum line receding. In cases like this, we will reinforce the damaged soft tissue by extracting a small amount of the tissue from the roof of the mouth and bind it to the affected site.
Pocket reduction surgery: This surgical procedure involves making minute cuts in your gum to allow a part of the tissue to be lifted back.

Bone grafting: In very severe cases of periodontitis, the bone surrounding your tooth may be damaged. We may need to take small pieces of your own bone for hard tissue grafting to hold the affected tooth in place to prevent tooth loss.
Non-surgical periodontal treatments:
If your gum disease is not advanced, we can use non-surgical procedures such as:
Scaling: This involves the use of an ultrasonic device to remove bacteria and tartar from your tooth enamel, as well as beneath the gums.
Root planning: This is an important procedure to smoothen root surfaces.
Administer antibiotics: Administer antibiotics: Depending on your condition, we may suggest that you use certain oral or topical antibiotics to get rid of infection-causing bacteria.
